Body of Arwin

The Body of Arwin is a skeleton clad in golden armor. The temple of Arwin asserts that it is the actual body of Arwin and the armor he wore when he was killed at the end of the Sky War.

The last known location was the reliquary at Bloodstone Castle, but recent reports suggest that it is no longer there. The current location is unknown.

Description

The body of Arwin consists of two parts: the skeleton and the armor.

The skeleton is of a man approximately 5'10" tall. The facial bone structure indicates Eber and Barcovan descent.

The suit of armor is made of gilded steel with a ruby studded symbol of Tactacles on the chest. The segmented body armor and wide brimmed, spiked helmet were common among Barcovan soldiers during the Sky War. The armor is stained with blood around the neck and on the right gauntlet.

History

As recounted in the Book of Arwin, Arwin was slain during the Battle of Arwood.

The battle was a final desperate push by the Barcovans against the Sky Islanders. Voltanis of the Sky Islands had agreed to cease hostilities if the Barcovans gave him Arwin. When Arwin was presented to him on the battlefield, Voltanis immediately slit Lord Arwin's throat and drank his blood. The Book of Arwin claims that the blood sapped Voltanis of his power, but some speculate that Voltanis retreated of his own volition to honor the pact he had made with the Barcovans.

The Book of Arwin recounts the body being recovered and dressed in a white burial cloth after the battle. However, there is no mention of where it was buried, and shortly after the battle was when the Barcovan Empire fell to the Ebers.

Some believed the body was buried in a graveyard near Arwood. Other's believed that some lord kept the relic hidden in his own private collection. One source even claims that the House of Wisdom - a mysterious group of magicians from Rashid - purchased the body to study.

The body resurfaced around 900 AE in Arwood and was siezed by the temple of Arwin. It was then given to the Talenov's as a token of goodwill.
