Sigurd's Folly is often listed as one of the biggest blunders in military history.
Sigurd Belmerion forced the northern clans to meet the forces of the Huntlands in open combat, abandoning centuries of raiding and guerilla warfare. It resulted in severe casualties for the Fjorkings, leading to unrest at home and eventually the Winter Revolt.
