Ares

Children of Ares are born of battle and bloodshed, embodying the raw ferocity and unyielding determination of their divine parent. With piercing eyes that reflect a warrior's resolve and a fiery spirit that burns within, they are drawn to the chaos and conflict of the world. Fearless and unrelenting, they thrive on the frontlines of war, their presence igniting the spirits of allies and striking fear into the hearts of enemies. These formidable warriors possess an instinctive mastery of weapons and combat, their every movement honed with lethal precision. Through discipline and relentless training, they become living weapons, embodying the essence of martial prowess. Their war cries echo across the battlefield, inspiring allies and shattering the resolve of foes. Bound by a code of honor and driven by an insatiable thirst for glory, the children of Ares are a force to be reckoned with, forever locked in an eternal dance with the art of war.

Children of Ares Traits

As a child of Ares you have the following traits.   Speed Your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Ability Score Increase Your Constitution score increases by 2 and your Strength score increases by 1.   Languages You can speak, read, and write your birth language and Ancient Greek.
Favor
At first level, you gain the ability to channel your godly parent into your abilities. This ability is represented by Favor. At any level, you have a maximum Favor pool equal to your proficiency bonus. This pool replenishes when you finish a long rest or when your godly parent chooses to grant you additional Favor.
Godly Ability
Starting at first level you gain an ability based on your godly parent. You gain new abilities at level 5, 9, and 13.
  • Martial Prowess: Children of Ares are natural masters of weaponry and martial combat. You may spend 1 favor to gain proficiency in any weapon that you are touching. This effect lasts until your next long rest.
  •
  • War Cry: At 5th level, children of Ares gain the ability to inspire their enemies and intimidate thief foes. You may spend 3 Favor to channel the spirit of Ares into your aura. As an action you release a war cry. All enemies within 10 feet of you must make a constitution saving throw, if they fail, they become frightened (duration 1 minute, requires concentration).   While frightened by this ability, a creature must take the Dash action and move away from you by the safest available route on each of its turns, unless there is nowhere to move. If the creature ends its turn in a location where it doesn’t have line of sight to you, the creature can make a Wisdom saving throw. On a successful save, the spell ends for that creature.   Additionally, all allies within 10 feet of you are immune to the frightened condition. This effect lasts for 1 minute and requires concentration.
  •
  • Bloodlust Surge: When engaged in combat and dealing damage to their foes, children of Ares can tap into their inherent bloodlust. Beginning at 9th level, you may use a spend 4 Favor to gain a surge of energy. As a bonus action, you enter a state of bloodlust. While in this state, you may add your constitution modifier to all melee attacks made. This effect lasts for 1 minute
Skills
Gain proficiency in Athletics and one of the following: Intimidation, Acrobatics, Perception, Survival
Suggested Classes
As the god of war, it stands to reason that Ares would sire warriors. Children of Ares often choose to channel their gifts into fighter and barbarian classes. That being said, a hearty constitution can be a versatile asset.
