Hades

Children of Hades, heirs to the somber realm of the underworld, embody a mysterious allure and an unyielding strength forged in the shadows. With eyes that hold the depths of the abyss and an aura that exudes a quiet intensity, they exude an air of solemnity and unwavering resilience. Drawn to the quiet solitude of crypts and forgotten ruins, they find solace in the profound wisdom and introspection that dwell within the darkness. Endowed with an innate connection to the spirits of the departed, they possess a unique insight into the realms beyond mortal comprehension. Their presence resonates with a haunting grace, an echo of the eternal and the ethereal. Born with an unwavering determination, they navigate the treacherous paths of the underworld, their unwavering spirit guiding them through the trials and tribulations of life. Like Hades himself, they are guardians of secrets and protectors of the balance between life and death, wielding their solemn power to uncover truths and offer solace to the lost. With their enigmatic presence, they inspire others to embrace the depths of their own souls, finding strength and beauty in the darkness. As children of the lord of the underworld, they embody the transformative power of introspection, inviting others to explore the mysteries that lie hidden within themselves.  

Children of Hades Traits

As a child of Hades you have the following traits.   Speed Your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Ability Score Increase Your Intelligence score increases by 2 and your Dexterity score increases by 1.   Languages You can speak, read, and write your birth language and Ancient Greek.  
Favor
At first level, you gain the ability to channel your godly parent into your abilities. This ability is represented by Favor. At any level, you have a maximum Favor pool equal to your proficiency bonus. This pool replenishes when you finish a long rest or when your godly parent chooses to grant you additional Favor.  
Godly Ability
Starting at first level you gain an ability based on your godly parent. You gain new abilities at level 5, 9, and 13.
  • Stygian Veil: In times of danger, children of Hades can shroud themselves in a mystical veil of darkness, making them difficult to perceive. As an action you may use 2 Favor to granting yourself advantage on stealth checks. This ability also grants you resistance to radiant damage while the veil is active. Duration 1 minute.

  • Shadow Step: Children of Hades can harness the powers of the shadows, allowing them to teleport short distances through darkness. Beginning 5th level, you gain the ability spend 3 Favor to step from one shadow into another. When you are in dim light or darkness, as a bonus action you can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that is also in dim light or darkness. You then have advantage on the first melee attack you make before the end of the turn.

  • Necrotic Touch: As a child of Hades, you have a natural affinity for the power of death. Starting at 9th level, using an action, you may spend 4 Favor channel your connection to the power of death, infusing your touch with devastating necrotic energy. Make a melee spell attack against a target within reach. On a hit, the target takes necrotic damage equal to 5d8 + your spell casting ability modifier. In addition, the target must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the target's maximum hit points are reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage dealt. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest.

  • Soul Bind: At 13th level you gain the ability to control restless souls. As an action, you tap into your connection with the realm of the dead. Spend 5 Favor to summon spectral allies to aid you in battle. Choose a number of spirits equal to your proficiency bonus (minimum of 2). These spirits manifest within 30 feet of you and act on their turn in the initiative order. The spirits last for 1 minute or until reduced to 0 hit points.   Each spirit has the following statistics:   Armor Class: 15
    Hit Points: Equal to your level
    Attack: The spirit can make a melee spell attack with a +8 bonus to hit, dealing force damage equal to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier.
    Special Ability: Once per turn, you can command a spirit to use its special ability:  
    • Spirit Strike: The spirit makes a special attack against a creature within its reach, dealing force damage equal to 2d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier.
    • Spirit Guard: The spirit interposes itself between an ally and a melee attack, imposing disadvantage on the attack roll against the ally.
    • Spirit Vitality: The spirit heals you or an ally within 30 feet, restoring hit points equal to 2d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier.
      Once all the spirits have been defeated or the duration ends, they return to the realm of the dead.
 
Skills
Gain proficiency in Arcana and one of the following: Stealth, Religion, Insight, History  
Suggested Classes
The children of Hades are naturally in-tune with the arcane which makes them excellent wizards. Their ability to blend into the shadows can make them very good rogues as well.
