Hermes

Children of Hermes, imbued with the nimble grace and boundless curiosity of the messenger god, embody the spirit of adventure and quicksilver wit. With mischievous eyes that twinkle with secrets and a charismatic aura that captivates all who cross their path, they exude an air of playful charm and unpredictable energy. Drawn to bustling marketplaces and winding city streets, they find solace amidst the vibrant tapestry of human interaction and the thrill of new experiences. Endowed with natural agility and speed, they possess an uncanny knack for traversing obstacles and slipping through unseen gaps. Their agile tongues weave tales and jokes, leaving laughter in their wake and blurring the lines of truth and trickery. Born with an insatiable curiosity, they are relentless explorers and adept thieves, their nimble fingers deftly acquiring what they desire and their cunning minds deciphering enigmatic puzzles. Like Hermes himself, they are masters of communication and diplomacy, skillfully navigating social webs and forging connections with ease. As children of the god of travelers, they embrace the exhilaration of the unknown, inspiring others to embrace the unexpected and embrace the world as their playground.  

Children of Hermes Traits

As a child of Hermes you have the following traits.   Speed Your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Ability Score Increase Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Charisma score increases by 1.   Languages You can speak, read, and write your birth language and Ancient Greek.  
Favor
At first level, you gain the ability to channel your godly parent into your abilities. This ability is represented by Favor. At any level, you have a maximum Favor pool equal to your proficiency bonus. This pool replenishes when you finish a long rest or when your godly parent chooses to grant you additional Favor.  
Godly Ability
Starting at first level you gain an ability based on your godly parent. You gain new abilities at level 5, 9, and 13.
  • Master of Thieves: As The God of Thieves, Hermes grants his children unparalleled proficiency in sleight of hand and lockpicking. You may spend 1 Favor to grant yourself advantage on a check to bypass a lock, disarm a trap, or bypass another security measure.

  • Swift Delivery: Beginning at 5th level, you can ask your father, Hermes, The Messenger God, for a favor. As an action, you can spend 3 Favor to magically transport a small object or letter to a specific location you are familiar with, bypassing physical barriers and obstacles.

  • Deceptive Doppelganger: As a master of disguise, you learn how to create illusions to aid in your misdeeds. At 9th level, you gain the ability to create an illusory duplicate of yourself. As an action, you may spend 4 Favor to summon an Doppelganger.   The Doppelganger mimics your appearance, movement, and actions. The Doppelganger can be commanded and can carry out simple tasks and conversations but is only an imitation of you and does not possess your full mental capabilities.   The Doppelganger is capable of basic movements and actions but cannot deal damage or make physical attacks. it lasts for 10 minutes or until dismissed. The Doppelganger has an AC equal to yours but will be dispelled after taking any damage. The doppelganger cannot interact with physical objects. While the Doppelganger is active, enemies can make Perception checks at disadvantage to discern your true location or identity.

  • Hermes' Gift: At 13th level you gain the ability to tap into your divine heritage to perform extraordinary feats of speed and agility. As a bonus action, you may spend 5 Favor to gain the following benefits for 1 minute:
    • Swift stride: Double your movement speed.
    • Agile evasion: Advantage on acrobatics checks and you do not provoke opportunity attacks as you move out of range of an enemy.
    • Unfettered path You ignore difficult terrain
 
Skills
Gain proficiency in Stealth and one of the following: Sleight of Hand, Deception, Acrobatics, Perception  
Suggested Classes
Children of Hermes make perfect rogues with their high Dexterity and stealth abilities. They also, make good Dexterity based class builds.
