Poseidon

Children of Poseidon are born of the boundless seas, embodying the restless power of the ocean. With shimmering eyes and hair like cascading waves, they possess an unyielding spirit and deep understanding of the vastness and unpredictability of water. Drawn to coastal landscapes, they find solace in the rhythmic crashing of waves against rocky shores. With their innate connection to the sea, they command its power effortlessly, summoning currents, healing or harming with a mere gesture, and navigating stormy seas with unmatched skill. The bond between Poseidon's children and the ocean empowers them with resilience and adaptability, mirroring the relentless strength of their divine parent.  

Children of Poseidon Traits

As a child of Poseidon you have the following traits.   Speed Your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Ability Score Increase Your Strength score increases by 2 and your Constitution score increases by 1.   Languages You can speak, read, and write your birth language, Ancient Greek, and you can communicate with sea creatures telepathically.  
Favor
At first level, you gain the ability to channel your godly parent into your abilities. This ability is represented by Favor. At any level, you have a maximum Favor pool equal to your proficiency bonus. This pool replenishes when you finish a long rest or when your godly parent chooses to grant you additional Favor.  
Godly Ability
Starting at first level you gain an ability based on your godly parent. You gain new abilities at level 5, 9, and 13.  
  • Born from the Sea: While in your fathers domain, you can move about freely. Using a bonus action, spend 1 Favor to gain a swim speed equal to your walking speed and the ability to breathe under water for 1 hour.
  •  
  • Under Water Sanctuary: The sea heals rejuvenates and heals you. Starting at 5th level, using an action, spend 3 Favor to gain this trait for 1 minute. While Under Water Sanctuary is active, heal hp equal to your proficiency bonus at the beginning of each turn as long as you are in water. This effect persists even when you are unconscious.

  • Tidal Surge: Beginning at 9th level, you gain even larger control of the water around you. You may use an action to spend 4 Favor to call upon the power of the ocean to unleash a devastating tidal surge. In order to use this ability, you must be within 150 ft. of a body of water.   From a point in the body of water, within range, rushes a huge wave. The wave is 30 ft wide and hits all creatures within 30 ft. of the shore in the direction it is moving. Creatures hit by the wave must make a Dexterity saving throw. The creatures take 6d8 bludgeoning damage on a failed save and half damage on a successful save. Creatures that fail the save are also, knocked prone.

  • Tempest Fury: At 13th level, you are able to unleash your divine connection to Poseidon, summoning a swirling hurricane centered around you. In order to use this ability, there must be a body of water within 150 ft. As an action, you may spend 5 Favor to unleash Tempest Fury. The storm covers a radius of 30 ft. and lasts for up to 1 minute. This ability requires concentration. While the hurricane persists, the following effects take place:
    • A the time of casting, all creatures within the hurricane's radius must make a dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, they suffer 6d8 bludgeoning damage and are pushed 10 feet away from the center. On a successful save, they take half damage and are not pushed. All creatures who end their turn in the hurricane must repeat this.
    • The winds and rain within the hurricane limit visibility. The area is heavily obscured to everyone but you.
    • Additionally, while the hurricane persists, you gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non magical weapons. You also, gain underwater breathing and can move across the surface of water.
Skills
Gain proficiency in Athletics and one of the following: Nature, Animal Handling, Acrobatics, Intimidation  
Suggested Classes
The strength of the sea flows within the veins of Poseidon's children. It makes them excellent fighters and barbarians.
