The Wanderer
"Hey, I see something up ahead but it's not recorded on any charts. Is it another ship?" "That is bad luck is what that is. We're going back."In orbit around Perillis lies a unique object under the influence of quantum effects. This "planet" seemingly disappears from its path and reappears at random and has proven extremely difficult to study.
Significance
The Wanderer has been viewed with curiosity and caution since its discovery during the initial colonization of Perillel. Researchers of the time were unable to dedicate significant resources towards the body, however, and thus it was mostly ignored for well over 30 years. The Wanderer regained public fascination after the crash of the cargo vessel Recurring Flame. An audio log was retrieved from the cargo bay in which a crew member jokingly claimed the body could place curses on ships. The audio log became the catalyst for the belief that perhaps sighting the Wanderer was in fact a bad omen./playing audio_datalog_08_JULY_2285...
[mechanical whirring] "Crew, captain. Be advised we are adjusting course to avoid the quantum anomaly." "Hey, you know what they say about the Wanderer, right?" "Oh, this'll be good." "It places curses on ships." "Hell, Ricky has seen it like six times, maybe that's why he can't get any." [laughing] [Loud crash and alarms ringing] "What the hell was that?"

Quantum Properties
The Wanderer could be classified as a dwarf planet, if not for its inconsistent orbit. The object becomes visible while not under observation but will disappear again as it leaves line of sight. All detectable properties from the object vanish along with it, include it's gravitational presence. Researchers have begun to suspect the only way to force the object to stay still, relatively speaking, is to put it under constant watch."The superstition around this wandering object has prevented any potential scientific research of its properties- what lunacy."
