The Welcome Wagon

"Jesus H Christ, this ship is huge! Where the hell is the restroom?"   -party-goer aboard The Welcome Wagon
While celebrations are common across the galaxy, and most people will take any reason they can to throw a party, the arrival of The Welcome Wagon means they won't have to.

The Travelling Party

The Welcome Wagon is a famous vessel that travels across the galaxy with one purpose; party. The cruise ship is full of liquor, singers, dancers, casinos, and other forms of entertainment, as well as an 18-hole Zero-G golf course and regulation sized (name of bean bag round sport) arena. Individual zones have their own climate control allowing for comfortable experiences for any who can afford to come aboard.

Creation

The Wagon is the brainchild of one Francis Bennings, a chairman of the Syndicate. Believing in the old-fashioned business model that showing your customers a good time leads to return customers, Bennings had the vision of a travelling party cruise where connoisseurs of illicit goods could hold meetings, make requests, or just partake in the lows of the galaxy. The Wagon is the second largest vessel ever built, well over 10000 meters, falling just behind Above God.

"You know the guy who built The Wagon had the idea after seeing The Decadence from the Megacorpolis comics."

All Aboard

Getting on the flying party that is The Welcome Wagon is surprisingly easy, given that it isn't hidden that it is run by the Syndicate. The only real requirement is securing transportation to the vessel, since it oft stays just outside law enforcement jurisdiction. Once aboard, the ship runs like a small city, therein the real cost of partying on The Wagon is however much one is willing to spend. Loitering, however, is not recommended, since the Gangsters would prefer that the ship maintain a high-class appearance.

The Sectors

Anyone can get aboard, but not everyone can afford to explore the more lavish areas of The Welcome Wagon

Downtown

Downtown is the most travelled and generally one of the cheaper areas to explore on The Wagon. From the hangar bays at the lower levels, Downtown sits directly on top, encompassing the majority of the midsection of the ship. Downtown is full of hotels, bars, high-end restaurants, and some smaller casinos, as well as several large swimming pools, sport fields, and public "parks". The area can get a bit congested, especially when The Wagon first arrives into a system and people are eager to check things out. Things calm down while the cruise is in transit between systems, but it doesn't have a set route so you never know what system you'll end up in next.

The Strip

The Strip constitutes the area towards the bow of the ship. In order to even enter, one will need to undergo a credit and background check, which includes a search through the Syndicates personal database. Once inside, the crowds are smaller, and the real money spending begins. The Strip is a large collection of luxurious casinos and resorts, top-end restaurants, and classy country clubs. While not said overtly, one look around will be evidence enough of the unspoken dress-code. Luckily, there is nothing to fear, as many fine tailors can be found just inside.

The Bridge

While not literally the bridge of the ship, it is located aft of Downtown and is limited to only a few levels of the ship. Even Syndicate members can only enter with good reason. Otherwise the Bridge is restricted to those that have major influence in systems; senators, presidents, judges, or high-ranking law enforcement personnel. Everything is catered, and is usually provide either cheaply or free, since this is where the Syndicate ensures its good-standing with their "friends".

Strictly Business

It is no secret that the Syndicate utilizes The Welcome Wagon for conducting meetings and organizing operations, but it is lesser known that the ship is also used as a neutral ground for political discussions. Thanks to this, the Syndicate is able to ensure their voice is heard during any major intersystem agreements.

The Welcome Wagon's Next Destination Leaked!!!

"The Welcome Wagon is the culmination of all the people who are clearly sick of the bureaucratic system, escaping from the mundane to a luxury they surely can't afford. But have you been to the Black Pearl? The food was phenomenal." -the Rogue

Love the nod to Megacorpolis!   This is great. I love the idea of a party ship that is actually run by the Syndicate and is used as neutral ground for political discussions. Genius way to ensure the Syndicate keep their fingers in many pies.

Ha...the Megacorpolis comics :D This is a great article--lots of moving parts of sneakiness well fitted into the cohesive whole. I also like that there are literal paywalls to getting into other parts of the ship. Intrigue! I hope this is the backdrop of many adventures :)
