The Wizening War

The Wizening War is the mythical rebellion of the first Free Cities of Pillarin against their oppressor, known to myth only as the Nameless Empire. The details are muddled, contradictory, and nonexistent depending on which Free City the myth originates from. Virtually every Free City claims that itself was the first city to rise up against the Nameless, and typically that is the primary aspect of the story. Each Free City speaks of its bravery, leadership, and effectiveness in rallying the other cities acrross Pillarin. The only universal claim is that the Nameless Empire ceased to exist and that the Free Cities became the heart of culture for Perradin. 
It is called the Wizening War for it is believed it caused damage to the landscape of Pillarin, sending ripples across Perradin. Claims that the Loristian Spine was created during the conflict occassionally are made, but these are inconsistent. Others state that the Imperial Highway was used as a great rope to tame the beast. Some scholars question if the Wizening War even occured as details are so drastically sparse and tinted by agendas of each Free City.
