Sweetstone Ruins

Who knew this peculiar location was hidden beneath our feet this whole time? Wild.
An ancient settlement carved into the earth was discovered when a land surveyor fell through a hidden hole. He was initially looking for locations to build new towns after The Great Shattering. The region was immediately deemed a no-go and efforts were put in place to preserve it for study.

Colorful Architecture

All of the rocks in the area are shades of pink and purple. They also emit a sweet aroma, lending the ruins their name. It's uncertain if these properties are natural, or were an effect of reality rifts. Many of the cave and building walls reveal hidden pictures and text under UV light. The language used in the script is unknown and linguists continue to work on deciphering it.   Aside from stone, the ruin's structures contain wooden and metal elements. The white wood comes from trees that still grow on the land above the caves. It's dense and resistant to molding. The metal is an unknown alloy that's dark blue and resistant to rust.

Vanished

There are no signs of the residents' descendants anywhere in Phaiyon. Investigations revealed that whatever happened to them must have been instant. No skeletal remains were uncovered. People speculate they either simultaneously teleported somehow, or simply evacuated in a hurry.   No one knew this location existed even before the shattering. Whoever lived there have been gone for a long time. Researchers have yet to discover if there are other settlements from this culture buried in other locations.

Technology

Scattered all through the ruins are snapshots of people's lives who were ahead of their time. It appeared they created various machinery that utilized an unknown power source. The strongest theory is that it ran on arcane energy.   Scientists gathered the remaining crystals, hoping to revitalize a new energy source. The world's power grid was devastated during the shatter. Discoveries like this may help the new generation rebuild faster.
