It's nothing but water down there. Anything that didn't make it to the sky was lost to the abyss or abandoned.
Before the events of
The Great Shattering, Phaiyon was a planet composed of many continents and bodies of water. After it was ripped asunder, all surviving seas and oceans formed into a singular massive body. Any remaining chunks of land were long abandoned, or so people think.
Climate
A majority of the ocean ranges from mid to high temperatures. Only portions near each pole are notably cold / freezing. The belt of water along the equator experiences the highest range.
After the shatter, storms and turbulent water currents increased. Those who study the changed planet noted that
reality rifts are in abundance on the surface. They appear to play a role in the more bizarre phenomena that's been observed.
The most notable rift effect was the year long period when all the water took on a pink hue.
Ecosystem
Despite everything that happened, Phaiyon's waters are still flourishing with life. Many species were lost either from the initial shatter or the change in salinity levels. Those remaining adapted and eventually began to thrive. Reality rifts introduced new species as well; they both brought in creatures from other realms and altered species within their range.
Noteable Species
Starry Squid
Ghost Whale
Island Jellies
Fissure Creepers
Rock Crabs
Lantern Eel
There is a wide variety of different systems, whether they were newly formed from the shatter or leftover from the old world. They range anywhere from vast open water, deep volcanic fissures / vents, kelp forests, floating corals, and everything in between. Much is still unknown about the new surface life as many folks are concerned with the survival of the floating islands.
