Lichthian

In Saythian language means 'Little pearl'1 this small settlement was originally completely separated from Saythian, although now with the expansion of the city toward the inland is almost totally encircled in it. The settlement was founded by a community of fisherman and their families on one of the major island of the lagoon that are scattered in the delta of the Ridverell, it is reknown in all Phaldorya as the main center of production of the pigment cyanor and of the textile with the same name. Its peculiar aspect with one or two stories house of pastel colours one different from the other is the other famous feature of this village.

Urbanistic features

Similarly to some of the peripheral quarters of Saythian, the marble roads and bridges are substituted by less expensive and decorated stone ones. Lichthian is mostly composed by small groups of terraced buildings, however to optimize the building space on the isle there some scattered detached or semi-detached house. In the center of the village there's a square, decorated with flower beds and a few ornamental trees, that host the marshal house and offices, were the local bureaucracy is carried out.

Local productions and business

The main business in Lichthian is fishing, the biggest part of it is done in the lagoon where river and sea water mix granting a reproduction site for eels and sturgeons. Furthermore larger boats are used to fish in the open waters of the Saythian's gulf. The most important and secret production in the settlement is cyanor, a pigment extracted from Bulinus Saynuaris , a mollusk that grows in the sulfuric waters of the Saynué, only specialized swimmers with ropes tied at their waist are able to achieve this dangerous task. The pigment is used to dye a flax fabric used to produce the vestments of Lyr's clergy, for this task the vast majority of the flax is imported.

Commerce

The settlement thrives thanks to his strong links with the city of Saythian where the villagers export fish, fresh and preserved. Particularly reknown are marinated eels and salted herrings. Another important export are the loom produced fabrics, not limited to the above mentioned cyanor. The imports comprise flax, wood, meat and vegetables; the first two are used by local business of looming and carpentry, the last two are used to complement the local diet, because the space for farming is lacking.
