Lyr

Lyr is a member of the Tuatha de Danaan, god of the sea and protector of sailors and coastal cities.  

Summary

  Lyr is reppresented as a man with vaguely elfin traits, long cobalt hair and brilliant teal eyes. His clothes are, in some depictions, similar to those of some Otadan tribes, in others he wears the clothes of a sailor and is at the helm of a ship. His portfolio include the sea and sailing, and he's the protector of everyone who travels or work in the sea and all the settlements along the coast. His favourite weapons are the trident and the net and his symbolic colour is deep blue and his sacred symbol is the shell.

Historical Basis

His image and personality are based on the historical figure of lyrathir Lyranthir, a marine half elf of the Drakensen house.

  Lyr is venerated in all the coastal areas of the continent, his p[ortfolio is the sea and all that it concerns , therefore he's venerated in particular in particular by sailors and fishermen and anyone who carries their life in or close by the sea. His clergy is often employed on ship to keep the vessel under the God's blessing, or live in close contact with fishing communities.He gets invoked for protection from storm and marine monsters and to bestow a bountiful fishing trip. It is also invoked by pirates and smugglers for less lecit endeavour. The main centre of worship is in Saytian.  

Cultural reception

  According to the legends, needing a place on land to meet with his lover Rihannon, who refused to set foot on sea, he founded Saytian by washing ashore a pearl that instantly sprouted a marbled palace that became the couple's residence.
