Dragons
Dragons are large, magical reptiles famed for their power and magic. Chromatic dragons, those of white, red, green, black and blue coloured scales tend to be viewed as powerful, evil creatures (although this does vary with the individual). Each have a breath weapon that spews a different type of damage at it's enemies. (White = cold, Red = fire, Green = poison, Black = acid, and Blue = electricity.)
Metallic dragons tend to align themselves for the good of humankin and other sentient creatures. They have equivalent breath weapons, (Silver = cold, Gold = fire, Brass = fire, Copper = acid, Bronze = electricity)
As well as the two main groups. there are other kinds of dragons who have massively adapted themselves to unique ecologies. Turtle dragons have given up their mastery of magic as they get older to just get bigger and bigger. Sea serpents have given up their wings and limbs to be suited to the deep oceans.
Guard Drakes are abominations brewed by the Cult of the Dragon from unearthed dragon bones and unsavory materials. Deep dragons have adapted to the mysterious subterranean magic of the underdark, while shadow dragons have adapted to (or been corrupted by) the Shadowfell.
Wyverns are draconic creatures, but are wild and not sentient. However, the pseudodragon is a small, magically adapted wyvern/dragon hybrid with four legs, two wings and a stinger. It communicates its thoughts and emotions telepathically and is a favourite choice for a wizards familiars. Pixie dragons, likewise are not proper dragons, but fey creatures who have adopted their own image of draconic nature. They look like miniature dragons but have large butterfly wings.
There are also rumoured to be gem dragons, who are neutral in alignment, although they must be very rare on these planes of existance.
Known Dragons:
The White Dragon in Icespire Hold - (Cryovain) (deceased)

The blood of a true dragon is a potent magical ingredient.

Dragon corpses can be harvested for a number of different materials, such as wing membrane, scales, bone, teeth, claws and blood. More specialist harvesters might be trained to extract breath glands, internal organs, and magical energy. A sufficiently aged dragon may release a burst of draconic energy on it's death that marks those around it as 'dragon slayers' and
