Letter to Argus Skeel

A recently received letter was found in Argus Skeel's belongings. It suggests a death-cultist conspiracy active across the sword mountains and coast.
"Our lord Uluaran Mortus will bring the ship of death to the mere soon. He will talk to the dark spirits there, and raise an unstoppable army in our god's name. Praise Myrkul.

We have been sent to prepare the way, seeking those who may best channel our god's dark power. Already we have allies in the mountains and eastward. Those of us sent to Merdelain are bolstering the ranks of his army by the day. I heard rumours they are searching for the lost lich-wizard Iniarv himself. Soon we will find what our god seeks, and dominion over death will once again be his alone.

I command you to continue your good work in Phandalin. The tip you sent me of the powerful spectre haunting Axeholm paid off excellently. You were also correct about the Conyberry Banshee. She will not be an ally to us. As a reward, you may do as you wish with the messenger of this letter. He is of no further use to me.

A note of caution. There are forces working in opposition to our righteous cause. Some of the Stormlord's faithful are trying to usurp our achievements, and there is a party of adventurers that has upset some of our plans in the Mere. They have connections to Phandalin, so you may encounter them in the future. You will recognise them from their large half-orc leader, but also beware his companions, an elf-girl with a saintly aura and his gaudily dressed assassin companion. Avoid a public meeting, and track them to an isolated area, then kill them. Your ghouls should be adequate for the task."
The letter is finished with the sinister flourish of a signature that somehow suggests a looming skull within the scribbled lines.
