Umberlee

The goddess of the unquiet sea and of drowning sailors. Also regularly referred to as the Bitch Queen.
Umberlee is the goddess of the sea, waves, storms and coastlines. For a deity considered evil, she has a large and consistent following in any coastal town across Faerun. Sailors pray for her favour in avoiding storms, or for a quick death if their ship does go down. Those who annoy Umberlee might find themselves shipwrecked and adrift, waiting for an agonising death by dehydration.
Umberlee and Talos argue constantly about whose jurisdiction would cover coastal storms and tidal waves.

While a powerful deity above the waves, it is thought that Umberlee may be a considerably more benevolent power below the sea, where changing currents and tides can bring new nutrients to sparse hidden landscapes. This longer term aspect of Umberlee's power might affect a fisherman's livelihood and a ship's sailing channels. This dichotomy is thought to bring about a morbid allure, where sailors revere the storms that might kill them, and seamen return again and again to the workplace which they are sure that, one day, will cause their deaths.
