Marie Moor
Marie Moor is an tavern and wine garden located in Luertere region of Soleil. It is often referred to as the safe harbor after travel through the Uncharted Swamps and the last place to eat a good meal before one braves the wilds.
Ran and owned by Marie Carmelle, she always keeps a bright rose-colored lightbeam on for weary travellers. If coming by boat, you can pull up to the pier. By the time you have managed to tie the boat off, Marie already has a fresh bowl of Wetland Soup waiting.
There’s no point asking what's in, as the recipe always changes. Whatever crustaceans or fish she could deluge from the swamp’s edge, along with her special blend of herbs. Although the sight of it looks unappealing--like swamp-sick upchuck that wasn't quite digested--Marie certainly knows how to season. Either that, or you are so thankful to be out of the swamplands that any bowl placed in front of you tastes like paradise.
The beds at Marie Moor are too soft; their blankets too voluminous. And the fans which spin in each room play a lullaby that helps you drift straight to sleep. When morning breaks, you can truly admire what makes Marie Moor so incredible:
Her labyrinth garden.
Trellis pathways twist and turn, each of them overflowing with pale pink swamp grapes. As you wind your way through the maze, benches are set out to admire the view of flower and herb gardens. To watch yellow bees and teal ant-flies pass nectar between the blooms.
After you’ve finished your day of trade, knowing it’s imperative you continue your journey, you can’t help but concede to Marie Moor’s pleas . . . one more night at the Moor is what you need. Besides, you must stay for her daughter’s performance.
Every evening the townspeople crowd into the tavern, spilling into the garden with the windows open wide, to hear the voice of Rosalind Carmelle who cries of unrequited love, the jazz melody winding through the air. A tragic dance with the blooms and the vines. Marie sets some swamp grape wine in front of you; the pale pink wine sweeter than any you’ve tasted before. The blackened gator bites served with it seem a strange combination. But like everything you’ve tried, it is perfection.
The next morning, you truly must leave. This town is small and you’ll need to make it to Ville de Dieu before nightfall to purchase necessary supplies. Even so, Marie promises to watch your boat until you return from your journey. Even recommends the best place to rent an electric buggy in town. As you drive through the hilly country road, you only hope that such a welcome awaits you on your next stop.
