Nevis
Nevis was a distant relative of both the Rooster Clan and the Leopard Clan. After the death of her father, she continued to live with her mother, who was of the Leopard Clan. Although her uncle was obligated to take her and her mother in as his own family, he did not care to raise a second family.
Nevis' mother was a great warrior and raised Nevis to follow in her tracks. However, Nevis did not care for such pursuits. She was a daydreamer who loved nature and spent her free time wandering the Uncharted Swamplands, collecting plants, insects, frogs, and rocks that she discovered.
At twelve years old, when Nevis was collecting rocks along the cliff where the ocean meets the Swamplands, she came across many pebbles which emitted a soft purple glow. She gathered as many of them as she could and brought them back home. Her plan with these rocks mainly consisted of using them as the base for the terrarium she was making. However, when her mother caught sight of the glowing stones, she knew that they carried the energy of the loa.
From that day, Nevis' life changed. And not for the better. Her mother began selling the rocks to Vodu practitioners. However, when her uncle discovered their increased profits, he decided that he needed to fulfill his duty by taking in Nevis and her mother. Her uncle severely limited her time outdoors and forbid her from returning to the Uncharted Swamplands. Though reluctant to be a warrior, Nevis longed for the days where she had freedom to run and explore. At eighteen, Nevis ran away from Sikel City. Not much is known about where she eventually settled.
Nevis' uncle capitalized on her discovery, opening what is now known as the Gem Mines of Sikel City. The Gem Mines brought an increased wave of wealth to Gem Mines of Sikel City, most notably the Rooster Clan. Today, extended members of the Rooster Clan are known to be diplomats, merchants, and artisans. Many believe this trend began with the opening of the Gem Mines.
