The Fi Warriors

The Fi Warriors are an all female group of combatants based out of Sikel City. Their primary objective is to fight against dark spiritual forces in the city and throughout that Ginen region. This includes supernatural creatures who came to Phasmatum in the new world, bokur who choose to use black magic against citizens, and those people who would attempt to control lwa--which often backfires and brings violent retributions to any who stand in the lwa's path.
Fi Warriors train with a combination of physical prowess and magical technique. Their fighting style is very similar to Capoeira technique of fighting. The women warriors are generally trained in different forms and techniques of dance which are later incorporated into hand-to-hand combat skills after they have mastered the forms. Many Fi Warriors later learn to incorporate weapon fighting into the methods; the weapon of choice is the machete.
Fi Warriors learn how to use basic veve iconography to draw limited powers from lwa. These are not always successful because the lwa have to agree to lend the use of the power -- this often comes from the Warriors previous supplications before battle.
Certain persons are known to create powerful connections with Lwa. The reasons why are unknown to humans, because not all of these warriors have showcased any particular loyalty towards Lwa or even Vodu. Fi Warriors will often recruit these women to be a part of their ranks, as they possess an unusually strong power. When in battle, they are able to call on the Lwa--at will--and the Lwa will infuse the Warrior with the strength of their power, transforming them into a human-lwa hybrid with extraordinary magical abilities.
Although the Fi Warriors are not officially recognized by the region of Ginen, government officials look the other way at their actions (so long as sizable donations keep coming). And many people pay the warriors to protect them from danger.
