Echodrop

The main mercantile guild in Antruin and one of the few whose influence has extended beyond Antruin, Echodrop is responsible for the trade of magical items. It is possible to order practically any sub-Artefact level magical item from Echodrop and have it delivered to your local branch of the guild if, that is, you can afford it. Echodrop the Artefact is unusual in as much as it was made rather than found. It was made with several powerful magical items by a mage working for the guild's predecessor- "Gordius and Son Trading Co.". They (their identity is unknown and the guild refuses to talk about it) designed a way to copy the enchantment from any magical item onto any other item. The guild maintains a huge library of items that are used in this copying process. This means they can make magic items to order with very little overhead (insiders suggest that their per-enchantment cost is as low as a single Potion of Cure Light Wounds).

Assets

Echodrop owns a huge catalog of magic items kept in a massive vault next to Echodrop itself. They also have a sizable stockpile of gold, although the vast majority of their profits get plowed into funding adventurers to go to the Ether Spindle to find more magic items. They have an outpost building in every city in Antruin and several in the capitals of nearby nations.

History

Originally the guild was "Gordius and Son Trading Co.", a travelling cart salesman that traveled between the various camps of adventurers around the Ether Spindle buying and selling the items that the adventurers found. With the founding of the Kingdom, the traders set up in the capital and started to send several carts between the new towns that were springing up. The company became incredibly wealthy and started commissioning adventurers to bring back magic items directly. Then they started employing mages to manufacture the items once demand started to outstrip supply. 30 years ago, one such mage discovered a way to replicate the enchantments and built Echodrop with the other mages. The company had Echodrop declared an Artefact by the King and founded the guild, gaining a great deal of direct political power as a result.
