The Guardian of Cora Valley

The people of Cora Valley are hardy and look after their own. They’ve survived tragedies and built on their experience. However, the townspeople are not alone as the Guardian of Cora Valley is there to help them against anyone who seeks to hurt the town.   The Guardian of Cora Valley is a monster, who the townsfolk revere as he’s identified as a force for good. Some believe he’s a werebear who lives in the forest outside Cora Valley’s boundaries.   Some have claimed to have seen the Guardian patrol Cora Valley at night, keeping a watch over the town.   The Guardian has made their presence known on a few occasions. The first recorded instance saw the Searing Light come to Cora Valley searching for a missing lycanthrope and her rescuer, a former member. The people, weary of the Searing Light because of their perceived reputation as a fanatic cult, refused to help. The Searing Light vowed revenge against the town for their lack of help.   That evening, Cora Valley residents heard growls echo throughout the town, followed by screams. The next morning, the Searing Light was nowhere in Cora Valley. Townsfolk believe the Guardian intimidated the cult into leaving the area.   Another instance saw a string of burglaries. When the townsfolk cried for the return of their missing items, the Guardian heard their call. One evening, a local tanner was found tied to a sign outside the Apple Pressery with all of the items that were stolen from various homes.   No one knows if The Guardian is real, save Schaal Skulldottr, owner of the Pressery. Schaal has told one or two people that The Guardian is her brother, Urso Skullson, who contracted lycanthrope after his 18th lifeday.   Schaal believes her brother is helping the community and will confront anyone who proposes hunting The Guardian.   Even though some believe The Guardian is a myth, they still sing their praises as he’s become a symbol of Cora Valley.
