Faux
Faux, also known as Para, are Sentients created using magic and/or ritual means. Unfortuinetly, in most cases, Faux are created as slaves, easily exploited and forced from birth to work mines, farms, labor camps or even be used in the military. To make a Faux is an extremely tedious and difficult process, and requires years of hard work and dedication. Processing and manipulating life is already a nightmare for a magic user to accomplish, add the chore of harnessing sentience, and you have a recipie for a decades grueling work. Most magic users have help to shave down the irritations of such a craft, and are assigned to a team of magic users to mold their thoughts together on how to tackle the issue. Depending on the base subject of the attempt at a new Faux, they may also need experts on the field of that creature or matter they wish to change to their desire.
A baseline foundation for a new Faux is tradition to use, as making a new Sentient out of material that doesn't harness life in the first place is impossible, and the desired goal of creating a sustained population using natural repoduction instead of constantly drafting ones using magic can be daunting. Using nature, Faux can and have been made out of non-sentient species, such as rabbits, bears, lizards, bats, birds and many more. The magic used to create and mold this life enchances the charactersitics and can be used to numb undesirable ones, like a short lifespan. The task or role desired for a Faux to fill, such as farming, mining or fighting, is always considered when choosing a species to morph. A bird, for example, would be way too brittle for hard labor purposes. But as use for messengers and ariel survaliance, they can be the perfect tool. A bear would be a horrible choice as a stealth Sentient, but a proud and formidable foe on the battlefield. Thoughts like these are always racing in mages, and kings, mind's when deciding how to next mess with the law of nature.
Faux history has always been a cruel one. You will always see a puzzled face on a historian if you ask the question: "So can you name a Faux that wasn't created for power gain or a cheap labor source?". In recent years, the morals of making a creature race sentient for the sole purpose of enslavement or entertainment has been debated on, and world wide laws have been established to stop such creations unless a niche reason for their existance is found, although justification is never discovered amongst the Council of Leaders. Faux life has been looking up, new oppurtunities are sprouting and with countless Faux revolutions, back ally and power hungry mages aswell as national leaders are backing away from making new Faux. Discrimination is one of the rampant problems with Faux, as many Naturals view Faux as creations of magic instead of their own God's and dieties. Orginizations dedicated to erradicating or mistreating these peoples has always thrived among the hatred filled hearts of Naturals, and will more than likely continue. But a silver lining is had, as Faux find strength in numbers just like in the countless revolutions, and kingdoms and nations sprout from these once enslaved people.
