Argonians
Basic Information
Anatomy
The structure of an Argonian’s body is quite similar to that of a human's asides from their heads, which are much more reptilian in nature. Their most obvious reptilian features include their scale-covered bodies, long tails, slit pupils, and forked tongues.
Marshland Argonians often have more crocodilian features while Desert Argonians have sharper features.
Ecology and Habitats
The first Argonians originated in the marshlands. At some point of time, a portion of these Argonians began to inhabit the deserts. Through natural adaptation, these two groups have become distinct from each other in appearance, abilities, and culture.
Argonians rarely reside in extremely cold climates.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Argonians mainly consume a primarily fish-based diet of meat. They are able to digest non-meat edibles and it is a common sight to see them enjoying bread, cheese, grapes, and other types of food.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Argonian social structure varies between specific societies, especially between Marshland and Desert Argonians.
Most Desert Argonians live in large, populous empires ruled by a monarch or dynasty. These empires are most often dominated by Argonians with other races being minorities not heavily featured in the government. Civilians are expected to be patriotic and loyal to the ruling dynasty.
Marshland Argonians often live in smaller communities. They value closely bonded social groups. These groups, sometimes referred to as "crews", often contain four to ten people within a larger community. There are no racial requirements to be a part of these groups, and they commonly include members of other races. Crews are expected to be quite loyal. The members may fish together, defend eachother, or even pirate together.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
All Argonians have a slight resistance to disease and a slightly enhanced sense of smell.
Marshland Argonians have developed the ability to breathe underwater. However, their desert counterparts have not.

Beauty Ideals
Beauty ideals vary between Marshland and Desert Argonians.
Marshland Argonians value darker scales, such as green, gray, and black, while Desert Argonians value yellows, reds, and browns.
Marshland Argonians appreciate strong, muscular bodies and Desert Argonians appreciate thin yet fit bodies with angular features.
Gender Ideals
In Marshland society, both males and females are expected to put in equal work and time into their crew. An Argonian of either gender who does not contribute anything of value to their crew is seen as unattractive. Both parents are expected to raise their child as a part of their crew before said child becomes an adolescent and finds their own.
Desert Argonians typically expect the female parent to raise any children. Fathers are expected to be present in the family, at the very least financially.
Courtship Ideals
Marshland Argonians are expected to court a member of their crew by bonding over time. It is not unprecedented that two smaller social groups overlap, merge, or allow members to leave in order for courtship to occur.
Desert Argonians courtship invovles giving gifts and spending extended time with one another. Finding a note with a piece of gold and a plate of a delicous dish is usually a sign of courtship.
Relationship Ideals
Marshland Argonians are expected to join the crew of their partner. As these Argonians hold loyalty in a high regard, disloyalty between partners is heavily frowned upon. Monogamy is expected and disloyal partners are often shunned or even removed from their crews.
Most Desert Argonians also expect monogamy, but society is not digusted by disloyal partners in quite the same way as Marshland society is. Partners are expected to be respectful and both financially and emotionally support one another.
