Tommy Lee - publically known as Temper - was a founding member of Brockton Bay superhero team New Wave.
Powers and Abilities
Temper had a Breaker power that caused him to be stronger, smarter, and more durable when he was exposed to fire. In his early career he used a flamethrower, but switched to safer devices shortly after New Wave gained corporate sponsorship.
Temper used many flame-producing devices during his career; often being forced to adapt as society grew less tolerant of property damage. After hanging up the flame thrower; he switched to tinker-made "fire pots" - expandable discs with a surface that creates flames and edges that extinguish them before they spread. Temper was able to control the size and flame functions of the fire pots with a remote that was bultl into his gauntlet.
Tommy was later forced to retire the fire pots as well when he was sued by a Tinker villain who had been arrested by New Wave years earlier. The Tinker claimed that the devices were taken from his lair when he was arrested, and as the inventor of Temper's weapons he was entitled to a portion of New Wave's merchandising royalties.
After being ordered by a judge to discontinue use of the fire pots, Temper commisioned a PRT tinker to make a suit that generates a localized super-heated pressure vacuum around his body. The suit allowed Temper to take full advantage of his powers without the safety concerns of setting things on fire. Following this change, his "trustability" polling increased, but his action figure sales declined.
Temper was the only member of New Wave to use weapons.
Profile
Before his career as Temper, Tommy Lee was an underwear model and occasional movie extra. He triggered and formed New Wave shortly after marrying Meredith Lee. His modeling career remained steady right up to his death.
Temper, along with his teammate Unbreakable, were killed by Behemoth during the attack on Paris in 2013. He suffered a fatal heart attack when his power went into overdrive after entering Behemoth's "kill aura". Unbreakable died trying to pull him out.
Statues of both fallen capes appear in Brockton Bay's Memorial Wall.
Ironically, he was named as the winner of Butt Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" award in an issue that released on the morning he died.
