The Savage Land
An exotic jungle island 80 miles north of Alaska. For reasons unknown, the island is invisible to navigational technology such as sonar.
The Savage Land was somehow excluded from the extinction event that killed the dinosaurs, and the thunder lizards of our past are alive and well there. By all accounts, the entire island is essentially locked in the late Triassic period.
Geography
A lush tropical jungle with dense, oversized folliage and plentiful rivers. It is relatively flat, with some low altitude mountain ranges. It's many hills are peppered with caves, many of which connect is a vast network of caverns.

By all accounts, the entire island is essentially locked in the late Triassic period. Concequently, none of the plant or animal life on the Savage Land is found anywhere else on Earth,

Natural Resources
Large deposits of an ultra-rare metal called vibramantium can be found here. It also generates an unusual electromagnetic energy, which is thought to be responsible for the Savage Land's invisibility to sonar and navigational equipment.
