Amaya Zarim
Amaya Zarim is the granddaughter of Abad Zarim, the Stelavorn admiral in charge of the explorer-privateers.
Captains and crews know her by sight, tall and lanky, in her late twenties with a dark ponytail, scarred knuckles from pugilist competitions and a hard stare that can silence many an irreverent smart-aleck. It is usually assumed that she serves in some kind of attache role or that she's there as her grandfather's apprentice. In truth, she is much, much more than that.
Amaya has proven herself to be so competent that he has managed to work her way up from a bodyguard and diplomatic assistant to a trusted setter of policy and strategy in a mere three years. She is also significantly more ambitious and aggressive in her goals than her grandfather is. Where Abad wants to maintain the good name, security, and prosperity of the Stelavorn Empire, Amaya has bigger plans.
She wants the Wyrm Empress deposed.
To this end, she has been trying to direct the more formidable Explorer-privateer crews (as well as ones with a personal beef against the Vanorax) into positions where they encounter the dragon empire's worst excesses. Teams using intelligence that she has provided have slain or captured over 20 of the Wyrmtalons and have, on at least two occasions, done acts of sabotage so spectacular that they resulted in invasions being called off.
She has also created a small unit of trusted agents that report directly to her. These individuals follow after explorer-privateer teams, collecting information and resources that the explorer-privateers may have considered inconsequential, recover the crumbled remains of slain wyrmtalons, and intercept Vanorax communication. As a result, she is getting a much clearer picture of the dragon empire's plans than most others in the Stelavorn Admiralty have. She is currently debating whether to present these findings to the Admiralty and face the questions about how she got her information, or find a way to slip the info to a couple of trusted crews, such as those of the Valorous and Merciful.
