Description
The
Eltóriások is not home to as many fey as the lands of
Vörövisz, but that is not to say there aren't any. The horned ladies, the babaroga are the subject of many a bedtime story, as well as several heartbreaking tales of those who lost a loved one to these flesh-eating fey.
The babaroga is called as such because its true appearance somewhat resembles an ugly, hunchbacked elderly woman with a metallic horn and iron teeth. But make no mistake, there is nothing human about this creature. With flexible, iron-like skin and innate magical ability to transform itself or control metal it is a serious threat. It stalks the dark ironsand deserts, and even the towns, searching for isolated prey to take back to its cave. Either snatching its victim and putting them in a bag, or killing them first and then dragging them back.
Intelligence and Behavior
Like most fey, the babaroga is lead by its instincts. While it is an intelligent creature (and quite arrogant regarding that), a part of its mind cannot resist its own nature. It has an overwhelming desire for violence and the flesh of the living, and delights in crushing opposition. It will frequently leave a grisly trophy of its most recent kill to be found by that victim's relatives, all to lure in more victims to keep the cycle going.
It sows discord, fear and hate to maintain the cycle of violence that invigorates it. While this may sound extremely hateful, it is not necessarily hate that fuels the babaroga's motives. It is simply in its nature to seek these things. While undeniably evil to mortals, to the babaroga it is a state as natural as breathing air.
