Rain of Gems

The event that later became known as the rain of gems began with a brightly colored meteor shower with a dazzling array of colors that quickly increased in intensity to the point that the black of the night sky looked like a chalk board that had been haphazardly spattered with the dust of hundreds of brilliantly colored sticks of chalk. At first the sight was mesmerizing and beautiful. Towards the end of the event however the joy and excitement quickly turned to horror as a much larger gem like rock came into view, it refused to break up or dim as it hurtled towards the world eventually slamming into lake Servean. As the gem like stone impacted the lake it brought forth a brilliant flash of light briefly filling the night with impossible colors, with this last display the night was reverted back to its normal state as if nothing had ever happened.   The following day expeditions were launched from all over to lake Servean to see what had occurred, what if anything remained of the gem, and more importantly what had happened Serveania the merrow city at the bottom of the lake. As the various parties approached the lake hope waned as miles away from the lake the air became choked with scintillating dust that grew thicker and thicker as they neared the epicenter parts of trees and rocks had been splashed with what looked like opalescent paint that on further inspection revealed that the splatter hadn't merely covered the trees and other life but had converted them into this new material. Whatever hope remain was finally dashed as the would be rescuers reach the impact site. All of the water from lake Servean was gone and burrier into the earth on one of the small lakes banks was the mirror like meteor from the night before fractured in many places but still intact and before it sat the remains of Serveania not vaporized or smashed, not blasted or shredded, the town had been warped, bowed away from the point of impact like thick mud when a large rock is thrown into it and then frozen in place converted into same opalescent material most other things in the area. This effect was not limited to the buildings but the people as well, grim forms frozen in forms more like those of a child's clay model than those of once living people. It was with heavy hearts that the investigators turned back and headed for home their retreat expediated by an inexplicable cough and hallucinatory fever that began to take hold of some of them with a few simply disappearing into the woods never to be seen again.   Today rainwater has mostly filled in the lake though the water takes on a strange milky hue and has an unusual oily texture similar to melted butter. This hides the gruesome site that still lingers below the surface and sitting above its grim handy work the fractured meteor still stands. Those that go to visit the remains of Servean should take care not to disturb the dust of that dead place lest they to fall to hallucinations and wander off into the woods or worse wade into the milky waters of the lake never to be seen again.

Cool meteor shower and excellent description of what happened as it made landfall and how it changed its. Has anyone ever tried to mine some of the stones for material
