Rockskip

Rockskips are small fey that take on the colors and patterns of rock formations around where they live. They can be found near any large rock formation or collection of rocks usually towards the outer edges of civilization. The patterns and colorations of these creatures are so exact that a keen observer can determine, on pattern alone, the place of origin of an individual. Rockskips use this natural camouflaged to blend into their rocky homes nearly disappearing if the remain sill and curl up or stretch out depending on the shape of the surrounding rocks.  While incapable of speech they can easily communicate through pantomime and are often capable of writing though when they write it is often difficult to understand because of their poor spelling and rampant grammatical errors. Researchers have found this lack of speech odd as Rockskips have the intelligence and vocal structure required for speech but remain incapable of doing so. It is currently believed that this disability is caused by some form of ancestral curse bestowed by an unknown party for some forgotten transgression.  
Like many fey creatures Rockskips find great enjoyment in pranks and general mischief particularly if rocks are involved. That said while some of their pranks are the standard fey fair such as tying shoe laces together,  rearranging travelers belongings, covering coins in pitch ect., what sets them apart is that for all the similarities with other fey pranksters, they also  have a unique sense of humor often exploding into laughter over things that the victims of their pranks might not even understand as a prank. An example of this behavior would be putting a specific type of stone in a place where it is sure to be stepped on, once stepped on a Rockskip may find it absolutely hilarious while the person being pranked may not have even noticed it, another example of this is trying to throw rocks into caldrons or soup pots while they are not in use. Above all most Rockskips favorite prank is to wait for someone to throw or skip a stone  then hit the thrown rock with another stone in midair ideally redirecting it in a different direction or back to the original thrower.
