Castle Schwert

Known as the family ancestral home of the Schwert family, Castle Schwert was reformed from a set of crumbled ruins a few years after the Consumption.

Purpose / Function

Though its original purpose was lost to history, it has been noted that only a single section of wall was destroyed before the castles first finding. It is believed that the castle once held a group of nobility before the consumption, though their family line and blood ties have never been determined.

Alterations

After its first discovery in 3AC, with a section of wall taken out, the wall was rebuilt by the order now recognized as the Grand Masons. Many of the rooms of the castle were refurbished and cleaned during the off time of the organization, creating the numerous bedrooms, libraries and even the garden after several years. in 574AC, the land around Castle Schwert was opened up to farmland for house Autumport, to allow for more food to be grown in the surrounding landscape. Though rough and rocky terrain, in 30 years the land has become fertile, and well desired among competitive farmers.

History

Though its original purpose was lost to history, Castle Schwert was found as a still standing structure in 2AC by a set of adventurers. Filled with several creatures, including a few stone golem statues, the adventuring party made off with whatever treasures were available there. By sometime around 3AC, a group of mercenaries trying to find a foothold against the Ergiex Flesh Stealers in the surrounding countryside, they quickly got to work on repairing the foundation to ensure their survival. Made up of 40 men, and with their newfound knowledge of stoneworking, the group became known as the Grand Masons, with the castle gaining its first name of the Grand Masonic Lodge. From 3AC till 165AC, the Grand Masons held onto their power with relative ease until the castle name was changed into its current title of Castle Schwert. From that point onward, Castle Schwert had become the ancestral family home of House Schwert still standing with its own guard to this day. On Aros the 7th 204, King Gerard Schwert I was crowned king, and created the country of Drakenvald  , with the main fortifications and family home switching to Sergale, and Castle Schwert becoming the winter home of the Schwert family from that point forwards. Every winter, the royal family takes a visit to this ancestral home as a reminder of the humble beginnings of Drakenvald. During the sacking of Sergale in Ruff 20, 603, the capital has moved to Seconvale, and as since Seconvale is south from the castle instead of north, it has instead become a summer home. It has been visited by the royalty every summer since the sacking.
