Vuluspian Surguries
A tradition dating back thousands of years old in Vuluspes. Performed by a shamen, or cleric of a society, before any surgical procedure can proceed, the practicioner draws symbols in ash all over the body of the intended, and makes a dark splotch of ash where the procedure is to take place. Though this ash can come from any source, this is usually a by-product of ceremonial fires, mostly of burnt wood and grass.
Though this practice is ancient, modern teqniques have evolved alongside the tradition. Adding special herbs and ointments to the wound alongside the ash has shown, overall, to dramatically improve the likelyhood of success. This leads to a lot of experimentation between tribes, and the differences in just the materials used alongside the ash can lead into large arguments between cultures and communities. It is a tradition held sacred for some, and ponderous for others.
