Political event
The party gains titles from the kingdom of Drakenvald, for being heroes of seconvale.
The next day, Kaelyn goes to the courthouse to hear what is going on, and finds that the town is abuzz with a trial in the works for the people they captured just the day before. Waiting for everything to happen the party stays at the tavern before reciving news in the form of a letter.
"To our faithful Heroes of Seconvale."
"First, I want to both congradulate you on your success at weeding out the corruption in the city, but also to inform you that those responsible have been found guilty, and will be executed."
"Tomorrow, the remaining council will be holding a party in your honor, and you will be reciving not only your payment, but gratification on behalf of our king as well. He shall not be in attendence, but he is writing a proclimention that all of you are to be awarded 'Awards of Arms.' a highly sought after prize given to heros who defend an entire population from the worst of villains."
"This does not grant you tifs, property, or titles, but hopefully, you will accept this generous offering from the king. Do not dissapoint those who will be looking up to you from now on."
"Another messenger will be sent in the morning with the gemstones that have been determined to be your payment, as well as certain other items as well. The rest will be given at the party in the keep."
"Again. Thank you heroes. May the gods forever be with you. ~Lady gray."
The party, excited about the event, go and get dresses tailored to their specifications, and await their delivery.
The outfits done, the halfling tailor delivers them to the party at the tavern, looking exausted, but with finished clothing en masse. The party gets dressed, and are escorted by carriage to a large manorhouse in the northern district, in this case the home of lord Silverblood. The party chat for a while before the ceremony begins, with a bishop making the announcments.
"Today marks a turning point for the city... As some of you are aware.. inside the council itself we had those who would threaten not only the livlyhood of our people, but even those of buisnesses, our brothers, sisters, and even their own kin. Today we mark an annoucement from not only the king, but recognize those who have brought these monsters to justice."
"First... an order from the king." she says as a scroll is given to her for her to read.
"It is from the desk of the king, that it shall be proclaimed. Those who live in our cities, our countries, and pay the due taxes of the realm, that as all taxes abdie, and bring forth the prosperity of our kingdom, that all are equal under the realm of the king. And so, as of this day, his royal magesty has declared that within his kingdom, there shall ne'er be a man, women, child, or otherwise be disalowed, or be treated apart as equals, as all those are equal. Never shall a ruling be made to disjoin those who can, and do pay taxes, and taxes, if increased, shall be increases on the whole, instead of to the individual. Hereby says, his royal highness." she says closing the scroll to applause from the crowd.
"Then there is a larger matter at hand. As the king has brought forth this sort of ruling upon us, after so many years of issues within the town, the council has made the decision that all guards will be questioned and re-informed of duties within the coming years, so that those of equal stature are treated equally in the eyes of the law. Though this may reduce the effectivness of the guard force by 'weeding out' those who bring our citizens harm, overall, our city will prosper from this decision, and temporary guard forces will be enacted to help offset the issues for the next year, though this is a matter still in discussion with the council as for the payments, training, and recruitment of these guards."
"Another ruling that the council has been made, regarding the process of magic within the city. Magic shall still not be used in matters of employment, under penalty of imprisonment, but, this does not extend to any magic which casts away magical effects, or allows them to see the truth. The council has, and soonthe guard will, have a list of these acceptable spells."
"And finally, we have heroes to thank... and congradulate on behalf of our fine city, and the king himself." she says folding her arms and taking a step back. From behind her, a portly man wearing a fancy hat, emblazoned with a few gemstones steps forward, carying a box. "It is on behalf of the king, that I, Bishop Ferendale." he says sweatilly, "Ask the heroes of this fair city to approach." he says taking a few steps down.
The party approaches the bishop and he asks each their name.
"My name is Rea Dai'Gishkin. It is an honor to protect this town."
With her face turned to the crowd, he pulls out a circlet of olive leaves, made of pure gold as he holds it above her head. "The king has proclaimed you... Lady Rea Dai'Gishkin, Knight of Rhamnasia."
keeps her face stoic as she keeps her head low enough to receive the circlet
"Thank you, sir Bishop. It is a pleasure and an honor to receive this title."
He then looks to Blaze, pulling out another, smaller circlet. "And announce your name to the crowd child."
"m-my name is blaze kirpy"
He gently places a small circlet, again with olive leaves upon his hat. "The king proclaims that you shall now be called "Lord-" at which point the gathered crowd murmurs a bit "Blaze Kirpy, Landstrider."
He then looked at violet. "Please state your name." "Violet" proclaimed the felmani.
He nods, pulling out another circlet, exactly the same. "the king proclaims that you shall now be called Lady Violet Shadowdirk, the Velvet Lady." he says putting this circlet upon her head.
He turns to Kaelyn then "Please speak your name for the crowd." as he pulls out another circlet
She blushes a bit and nods, approaching, stating her name, "Kaelyn Ar'Khalis"
He places it upon her head. "The king proclaims that you shall now be called... Lady Kaelyn Ar'Khalis. the lady of Dragons.."
He bows to the four of them, then stands up and says proudly. "These titles come with no land, but to serve that they can, and are allowed to become part of any noble houses, are capable of being wed. This does not give them property, power, nor cash suppliance. Let it be known that our king sees these heros as champions of corruption in an unjust world, bringing those who seek to stomp upon those beneath them to justice."
After the ceramony, lady gray speaks with them in private, thanking and paying them for their hard work.
