Spiders Unrest

Expedition

An adventure into the forests in the kingdom of Cinerosa, in order to look into and combat a plague of spiders that infected a local town.

The party has been busy, between Kaelyn getting things together to start a new organization. Violet dissapearing for a few days and returning to help with the tavern, and Rafliss also exploring the tavern and the town quite frequently. The party hear tell of a town on the other side of the world which is having a bit of a spider problem, something that they decide to check out as soon as they can. getting to the town is fairly easy, as it uses the teleport statue, just takes a few minutes to get there. It is night time by the time the party teleports there. It looks like this place is on the other side of the world. The trees have lost their leaves, and with the moon lit against the night sky, the trees branches gnarl out in twisted shapes. Noting upon arrival that the notice for aid had been there for several weeks, the party easilly see that most of the buildings have the windows covered up via planks of wood, and past the ground floor a few webs can be seen strewn about. The streets are maintained, its just not very nice when you look above the streets. This is a fairly common town and not fairly large. Seeing lights in the distance in town, they approach. After approaching, they see that a local steeple actually had made a makeshift safehouse against the swarms of spiders, and were burning herbs to keep the spiders at bay. They approach one of the chanting priests, who tells them what happened "About a few weeks ago, spiders started coming out of the woods and making it over the walls into the town, taking over the buildings rather rapidly. there were about two hundred of us in the town, but now our numbers are closer to fifty after people ran." "The majority of us think that there is something in the woods forcing them out, and into our town, but from what we understand, even more show up each day... this place is infested." "we can't even burn them out anymore or we risk burning down the city." "And if you can't find anything, help us clear the town. We dont have much anymore but we do have two thousand we can offer for helping us return to our homes." The party accept their mission, and travel into the woods to search for the source of the spider unrest. Coming upon a clearing with strange ruins, with draconic runes upon them, they also find a large area thats completely covered with webs, and also includes several spiders with gaping wounds in their abdomen. After investigating further, the wounded spiders burst to reveal Spidereaters, a strange magical creature that hunts such giant beasts to breed children and eat. The party fight the creature and dispatch it with absolute ease, before its own mother shows up. An absolutely enormous specifmin of Spider Eater... which the party also proceeded to destroy in very quick succession. It seems the task was too easy for our party, to which they gathered their loot, the remains of the last party that was sent out to fight these creatures. They also learn that the ruins were also home to what looked to be an ancient dragon breeding ground, where they would store their eggs away from prying eyes to raise them properly. They go to the church, and gain their just reward, thankfully, their city was now clear of spiders now that the threat to them was over, to which, the party returned home.
