Thyathone

Thyathone is considered the heart of the Krodian Federation, where the sacred Viambre tree took root and stands to this day. It has long been considered the homeland of the Durmok, but is more intimately guarded by the dark elves.   It was first called Viathone, or "the throne of vitality" before this meaning eventually was lost and became the iteration widely known today. Though the modern version is used by Sinari, the Shal make a point of referring to the city by its ancient name to better respect the Duality.   The city's structure is heavily reliant on Viambre and its surroundings, though Thyathone itself only takes up the base and upper branches of the vast tree. Only those with religious distinction can build their homes in the great boughs and most citizens live on the forest floor, awaiting Ambrosia to grace them every four years. Room even here is competitive, ensuring that only the richest and most revered citizens can get close enough to Viambre's roots.

Geography

The city of Thyathone is centred around the largest and arguably most sacred tree in Poraile, Viambre. Its roots spread further and wider than the city itself, but the view even from miles away is extraordinary.   Within the city, the tree's vast roots course through the city and the soil beneath it, looking for water and nutrients. The nearby Theramus River provides water to the city through the ancient canals that run throughout the settlement. Very few go to the river itself in fear of nymphs and Kaipal that gather near or beneath its surface.

Natural Resources

Thyans are proud to report that they can be self-sufficient, mostly relying on the divine gifts of Viambre to give them what they need. In the spring, they gather Ambrosia flowers when they fall, then in the autumn the leaves are soon to follow. Though wizard visitors can only hypothesise how wondrous a natural resource the grand tree would be for aether, if Ambrosia and its products are so magically potent, the locals refuse to directly harm Viambre.    The leaves they don't need help to keep the soil healthy for crops and make good compost. Though no one would dream of using Ambrosia for such a task, it's otherwise useless sepal often makes an appearance in compost heaps. Though not thoroughly studied, researchers assume the plants grow well because of the aether within Viambre's sap, still contained in the sepal and stem of the Ambrosia flower.    Nestled within a wood, there is no shortage of lumber. Though forbidden from using even dead branches from Viambre for this task, thyans grow and cut down nearby trees specifically for their wood and fruits. Nuts and seeds are also popular resources, especially for keeping livestock fed when they can no longer scavenge for themselves.    To a dark elf or anyone talented enough in magic, the forest itself can be used as a natural resource. Rich in aether due to its proximity with Viambre, using such a gift to make homes out of the woods themselves is widespread. The city itself, to some extent, is also protected through the use of magic.
