War
Feudark (a.k.a. Vengeance)
The second of The Four Horsemen, War descends to wipe the slate clean of warriors upon the Apocalypse. His deeds are what stains Conquest's standard red.
Divine Domains
War appears most regularly on sites of battles. In the aftermath, War takes in the blood not soaked into Conquest's banner as his own. This is said to heal him of all damage he sustained. He doesn't drain the blood itself, but the spirit and aether contained within it. Most believers use this to explain why blood dries brown rather than its signature rich red colour.
Tenets of Faith
War believes that all mortals are stubborn and prideful. He seeks to teach them humility by becoming the force that even they cannot tame - even more potent than nature. Though War deems them rife with wrath and arrogance, most have no courage to fulfil their threats and instead seek suffering of those above them.
He hates mortals' self-pity and envy the most. War challenges only soldiers and knights in combat because he sees anger on behalf of those weaker than yourself as a justified wrath, worthy of praise. Though they have no chance against him, he only fights those who dedicate themselves to that cause, rather than people who resist for the sake of their own lives and possessions.
Holidays
It's customary upon the start of a battle for local civilians to trail buckets of animal blood around the outskirts of their hometown / village. They believe the offering will satisfy War's thirst for blood and he won't come for the people as well as the soldiers. For it to work, the liquid poured out has to weigh the same as all the sentient inhabitants of the settlement.
Some areas, especially soon after yearly executions, will use the blood of criminals put to death instead of animal blood. It's believed that animals can't sin due to their lack of free will, and thus criminal blood will be potent enough to satisfy War's thirst quicker.
War is associated heavily with the summer season, so the Summer Solstice marks his potential return. To ward him away, it's a day of subdued good will and chivalry. The day begins with confessions at the local parish church. Those who confess to wrathful thoughts or crimes are led to the largest body of water, usually a river. Because of their occupations, knights, soldiers, butchers, cooks, fishermen and clergy have to go to the water, even if they haven't confessed.
A clergyman (along with any others present) sanctify the water and relay the Lord's forgiveness of their wrath and shedding of blood. The participants bathe and head for regular celebrations. Some regions forgo this step and have everyone bathe or splash each other with the holy water.
Divine Goals & Aspirations
War's primary objective is to kill all those who would attempt to stave off the Apocalypse, once Conquest has helped the The Horsemen to descend to the mortal world. His task is to effectively annihilate mortal lines of defence before letting the others do the rest.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Rendered unable to die after his body was reforged in divine flames. Now more muscular than any mortal, he can wield his colossal sword easily. Without absorbing resources from the blood of his enemies, he'll grow weaker and eventually die.
Physical quirks
When War is on the battlefield, his hair is shown ablaze in a fierce orange, much like his eye colour. Away from combat, War keeps his hair tied back, now a natural material and a dark brown.
Apparel & Accessories
Whether or not he wears armour varies on context. If shown in battle without armour, the event was or is going to turn into an outright massacre rather than a fair fight. When War is depicted in full plate armour, this usually implies he's under the orders of Conquest to restrain himself.
Specialized Equipment
Wields a giant claymore that breaks the spirit of his enemies along with their bodies. It's shown as either dark grey or black, accented with the blood that stains its elaborate engravings. His crimson horse, Strife, is stocky and able to hold his weight.
Mental characteristics
Gender Identity
Perceived widely as masculine. Referred to with he / him pronouns.
Mental Trauma
War came under Conquest's command when his world was invaded and he was the only survivor. Though he was able to hold his own against the Horseman, War had to join his ranks as the loser and serve the divine mission.
Humiliated and rendered unable to defend his own people, War swore to fight only those that did the same for their worlds. Becoming immortal was also a traumatic event in its own right, requiring a mental fortitude that only solidified his dedication to revenge. His body was forced to reforge itself in the divine flames, only able to get stronger through further combat and destruction.
Social
Speech
A dark, rumbling voice, said to have passion and conviction of a volcanic eruption. Speaks few words, but usually insults the moral integrity of his opponents. Not one for flowery language, he lets his claymore speak for him.
