Book of the Law Document in Post-Human | World Anvil

Book of the Law

The Human document which asserts itself as the infallible ethical system for all of the original, unaltered Homo sapiens sapiens. Like its companion book, the Book of Successors, it holds a quasi-religious status.

Historical Details

Background

According to legend, when Singularity rose, the ten major world religions sent seven representatives each to The Sacred City to write two books, this being the historical account of the rise of the Singularity, notes on the other subspecies, and other prose.

History

The existential threat of Singularity and the other subspecies completely redefined religion. The writing of this document formed an overarching sacred text (along with the Book of Successors). This didn't eliminate religions. They all still exist and are probably more practiced than any time since the Enlightenment of the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries C.E. However, for H. sapiens sapiens these two books have come to hold primary weight even over that of more specific texts such as the Tanakh, Koran, Christian Bible, Bhagavad Gita & Mahabharata, and other such texts.

Public Reaction

For unaltered H. sapiens sapiens (Humans) this document has sacred standing much like religious writings or secular foundational documents and national constitutions. For those who pride themselves on being a new subspecies, reactions to this document ranges from disinterest to disgust.

Author's Notes

Note: This is being published in its unfinished state in an effort to produce some content. Look at it like one of those obscure details you see in your favorite work, like perhaps one of those extra characters way back in the background that is shown for a fraction of a second on screen, and happens to have a name in the production notes, but there's nothing in the actual work that gives any real indication about it.
