Korvas Vortex
A circular region located in the center of the Scroll of Potestatem standard map. The entire ocean in the area is a large whirlpool with slice-shaped islands inside of it. Located east of the Clefurk Arichpelago and west of Korvas Sea.
Geography
Korvas's Vortex is a magical anomaly consisting of a massive tornado surrounded by an equally missive whirlpool which was created by Korvas. The vortex has several major impacts on the world of Potestatem.
The tornado causes the weather of the region to behave abnormally by sucking up much of the perspiration in the surrounding area and sending most of it towards the southern continent. This is the cause for several biomes such as the massive Foisham Rainforest in the southern continent and the dry Mammoth Steppe in the Northern continent.
The Whirlpool has created a natural phenomenon known as tidal shift due to it shrinking and gaining in volume throughout the day. While this phenomenon is negligible in some oceans such as the Sea of Poison Fire. Other oceans such as the Ocean of Adias have extremely pronounced effects.

Localized Phenomena
Zeal in the region has been torn asunder by high level magic during the Battle of Korvas's Vortex. Large scale desacration has occured in the region as well for the same reason. This has caused magic in the region to become non uniform.
Zeal normaly is evenly distrubted over large area's on the scale of Korvas's vortex. The denisty here instead often alters to extremes. Dense and devoid regions of Zeal move around the area. This movement is at the weather to change in a temperate climate. These Zeal density changes are invisble to regular eye sight. Many mages will use simple cantrips to get a gauge on zeal density in their area at the moment. Prediction of future zeal weather patterns proves nigh impossible without divination.
The resulting effects of these density shifts in Zeal show profund effects on magic. In high zeal concentrations spells are often hard to control. Most spells benefit from being 'upcast' or on a larger scale. Magic will also run rampant and out of control. For example the common firebolt might be suddenly able to light a soaking wet log on fire. Hitting the log, or not harming the caster with the fire may require greater control. In extreme cases spells will simply explode in the face of the caster.
Area's of dispersed Zeal have the opposite effect. Spells will require great effort to cast at all. Many mages find themselves unable to use their most difficult to use spells. In extreme cases spellcraft will not function at all, though this is rare.
