Temple Counter

In Potestatem many leaders, heroes, villains, and famous figures of other natures, worry over their following. As the time comes nearer at the end of each year these people sweat over how many followers they have, could have, or shouldn't have. The temple counter does this for them. Like many of these figures, the temple counter is one common job among many in these legendary figures forces.

Career

Qualifications

Often mathematicians perform this task. While visually counting followers is available to those who have smaller followings, more complex equations allow for easier counting of those commanding vast seas of people who might not all be visible but worship nonetheless.

Career Progression

Two paths often progress for this career. Early on, smaller figures will have common counters who can use their fingers, writing, or their eyes to see followers. These figures, if lucky, as well as more advanced mathematicians will rise to assist larger groups to aid anyone of mythical status. A temple counter could be anything from the first mentioned to any advanced wizard able to divine answers quickly or who simply has greater academic knowledge.

Payment & Reimbursement

A portion of authority on top of gold often comes with these jobs. An accurate count, or even prediction of a count as extremely valuable to those at the top.

Other Benefits

Being the one who tells your leader their following can be greatly beneficial, but also dangerous if those numbers are too low. Many counters have been known to even rise to power themselves after a legendary figure recognizes their help in public.
