Passive Magic
Passive magic is unconsciously performed, though it can be purposefully enacted by skilled users. While passive magic is more common and present even in Squibs and muggles with magical exposure, it is harder to control. Western magic tends to focus on active magic, but Eastern magic focuses on passive magic. One of the most common signs of passive magic is hair length. Most mages can grow their hair out to the height of their heart, but longer than that requires strong passive magic. As such, in magical communities, long hair is prized as a sign of power.
