Church of the Redeemer

"In the end, the gods abandoned Poy to further their petty squabbles elsewhere."   So opens the book of Alvath the Redeemer. In the centruries after the Cracking, the races of Poy struggled to comprehend what happened to gods that once walked with them as they strode to battle. The prophit Ozdaas in 1154 answered the question, at least for those who believe his teachings.   Ozdaas teaches that the gods never fought for Poy, but rather Poy fought for the gods. When the war here was concluded they left, only paying lip service to their followers as a precaution should their epic struggle returns.   All, excpet Alvath. She alone remained. She alone cared for her children. She alone will provide strength, guidance and discipline to the races of Poy. She has called herself The Redeemer as she seeks to redeem both the worthy of Poy as well as the power of the gods.   The Church of the redeemer is considered a 'family' with a strong heirarchial structure. Familia names are often used to denote status and bonds. For example, a congregation refers to their local leader as Father or Mother while the leader of another location as Uncle or Aunt. Likewise members of the congregation are Brothers and Sister while other congregations are Cousins. These titles are not fixed as a mid level member of the clergy may be called Grandfather by someone below him, while being called Nephew by someone senior from another region.   The curches tenets are based around the idea of tight bonds, sacrifice, and obediance. "Blood is thicker than water, but Faith is thicker than both", they teach.
