Duke Egron of Chask

Born as the second son of a wealthy and influential noble family, upon reaching an adulthood Egron decided to join the Imperial Army. After quickly rising in ranks, for a long time he commanded one of the mounted banners (100 men and about 200 squires). At that time, he also became relatively known among the population for the accomplishments in the battles against rebels and disloyal nobles.   Unlike most nobles serving in the military, and despite his lack of knowledge about foot soldiery, Egron decided to become an imperial officer by attaining the rank of company's captain. As a result, he spent most of his life as a professional soldier.   During the preparations for the war against the grey orcs, general Egron was chosen to command the first mounted regiment (7,000 men, mostly nobles) of the Expeditionary Army. Throughout the war, he further straightened his fame as a competent commander who was both able to keep the nobles under control and treated well the commoners under his command.   After the end of the war, Egron settling down to rule the new lands granted to his family by the emperor, ending the military career on the peak of his fame. That decision might have very well saved his life, for many other officers of the Expeditionary Army were purged as conspirators against the emperor soon after.   After the death of the emperor, he was granted the title of a duke by one of the emperor's sons, who have split the realm into independent kingdoms and started a war against each other. Having high influence at court and vast lands to rule, Duke Egron was a major player in regional politics until his death from old age.
