An offer of protection
Dreamonskii has offered to purchase Hobbs' soul as a form of "protection". According to Dreamonskii, he would have much greater latitude to take action against anyone who attempts to interfere with Hobbs' memory were Hobbs to be his "property".
After making a secret deal with Ignacio Icarsus, Dreamonskii told Hobbs that he "found a workaround" and should be able to defend his memories regardless.
