Archfey
Archfey are extremely powerful beings who reside in the Feywild. They harness roughly the same level of power as Archangels and Archfiends. They are often whimsical immortal beings who carry considerable influence in their home plane. In fact, almost every resident of the Feywild labor under the guidance of some Archfey or other. In some sense, this leaves them with similar roles to kings and queens in the Prime Material Plane. Note, however, that this comparison makes the Feywild sound like a much more organized place than it really is in practice. The plane is rife with territorial disputes, regions that kinda-sorta swear fealty to multiple Archfey, and the occasional dispute about who does or does not deserve to be an Archfey.
Unlike the feudal system currently employed in the Prime Material Plane, the Feywild has a very flat and loose organizational structure. The Archfey sit on two courts - the Seelie Court and the Unseelie Court. Between them, these courts control roughly 85% of the populace. Specific regions are presided over by specific Archfey, but the lines between these are often blurry and/or disputed. In addition, the membership of both courts changes on a pseudo-regular basis, as seats are given to the most prominent members of society, and of course there is constant disagreement regarding what exactly that means. Archfey are generally added and removed at the whims of other Archfey, but occasionally a popular uprising will lead to instilling or removing a specific individual in either court. In addition, there a few scattered settlements that pledge no loyalty to either court, or to both at the same time.
