Spark of Divinity

A Spark of Divinity (colloquially known simply as a Spark) is an intangible source of divine power which resides within the soul.  Possession of a spark is a prerequisite for any being intending to rise to the level of godhood.  Gods can create new Sparks as they see fit, and distribute them to deserving mortals.  When gods produce offspring, their children are born with Sparks already attached to their soul.  
Simply having a Spark does not, in and of itself, confer any special power.  It takes great effort to properly harness a Spark, and it is entirely possible to possess one without even being aware of it.
