Expedition
The second venture in an attempt to form friendly relations with inhabitants of the Elemental Planes.
The second time that the Conclave of Elements decided to venture into the Elemental Planes, to form friendly relations with their respective inhabitants, for the benefit of both sides. Four different expedition crews were sent to do this. The first ventured to the Elemental Plane of Earth. This time, a large number of safety measures were taken, and the members were instructed to immediately return, upon meeting any danger or issue. After a few minutes, the group started returning, missing two people. Apparently, a large elemental kept its nest not far from the entrance, and members had also noticed difficulty breathing. The incursion has since then been put on hold, except for a few scouts have been sent, to map out the area of the nest. No further expeditions have been done. The second headed to the Elemental Plane of Water. For this expedition, the number of people was increased and a larger number of people more accustomed to underwater environments were recruited. They managed to make their way to the settlement, which had grown, but not very much. They were given directions to a larger town by the locals. After making their way to the larger town, they managed to form some diplomatic relations with the Marids there. Further discussion about the issue has happened, and a visit from one of the more prominent figures of the Marid settlement has been planned for the future. The third headed to the Elemental Plane of Air. Several people from the city of Zephyr were recruited, because of their prominent control of air currents. As they made their way through the entrance, they managed to make contact with the same Aarakocra village, though this time they were not allowed into the village. After asking for further directions, they were told about another Aarakocra settlement in the region. Upon further inquiry and exploration, another village was found, surrounded by a large windstorm. The settlement was deemed too difficult to approach and the expedition was called off. The fourth group was to aim for the Elemental Plane of Fire. A large number of people were once again participating in this expedition, and many were lost, however, some returned. Apparently, the entrance was located in a large sea of fire, causing the death of half of the members of the 46 person expedition. The rest returned to the material plane to report their discovery, and plans for some structure to hold above the sea of fire, to prevent further loss are being discussed. In general, the second incursion is seen as much more successful than the first, but still far from preferred. Another incursion is planned, but the date has yet to be decided.
