Johnathan Arthur Sterling (a.k.a. Akuma)

Akuma is an underworld crime-lord with the ability to manipulate life energies. With one hand he can heal and with the other he can induce life threathening tumors.
Johnathan Sterling was a rich english explorer in the 18th century. While on an expedition to the orient he stumbled upon an old temple dedicated to some old diety, or demon. In the temple he found a blade, black as the night. As he gripped the sword he was granted visions of a mystical world on another plane of existense. Sterling became obsessed with finding this other world, and with the help of his visions he managed to find a portal that led him to Shangri-La. In Shangri-La he encountered an order of monks who taught him how to fight and to be the protector of their heavenly city. As the protector, Sterling was granted healing powers by their guardian spirit, Malanova. One fateful night Sterlings head was filled with the sweet whispers of a seductive voice. It talked to him and lured him away from the heavenly city and to a mountain. Under the mountain he found a woman in a cage. The woman told Sterling that the monks of the heavenly city were actually evil demons who kept her prisoner there until they planned to sacrifice her to keep their evil god alive. The woman asked Sterling if he would be willing to save her from her prison, and the young man said yes. The enchanted man travelled back to the city that night, convinced that to free the woman he would need to kill the monk who had cast the spell that captured her. Sterling snuck into his bedchambers and found the black blade. He unsheated the sword and used it to slaughter the monks and the master that had captured the woman. After the masters death the woman revealed her true form as the evil half of Malanova, Melonoch. Sterling was enraged and tried to strike the demon, but he had already sold his soul to her with the blood he had spilled. He was granted the powers of death and became Akuma, a servant of Melonoch.
Akuma was eventually defeated by the guardian of the west and sent back to earth. He eventually started his criminal empire, where he was slowly planning to free Melonoch from her prison.
Due to his most recent attempt to free his master he was defeated and sealed away in a dungeon under the heavenly city.
