Gulungin

Tepid is the word that best describes the whims of Gulungin in recent centuries. In the early eons, however, Gulungin was a tumultous force to be reckoned with as his waves swallowed whole continents during the Fundamental Reckoning. With Amras as warmonger, Gulungin and Marthasya engaged in a war that predominates any other war in history. The Fundamental Reckoning not only stretched across all of Primea, it shaped Primea into the form is ultimately has taken. The enternal ebb and flow of the tides of the seas are the echoes of this calamity. Following the conflict, the oceans calmed and the mountains settled. Gulungin adopted a carefree and lackadaisical demeanor. The sloshing of the waves have been compared to the aimless efforts of locomotion by a drunkard, and thus Gulungin is depicted as a haphazard carouser often in a belly-up position. Likewise, the oceans are commonly referred to as The Drink.  

WORSHIPPERS

  Seaborne civilizations pay homage to Gulungin for offering them refuge since time immemorial when their cultures sprang up during the conclusion of the Fundamental Reckoning. Spending their entire lives beneath the waves in the embrace of Gulungin habors a feeling of closeness and at-homeness.   Sailors and seafarers offer tribute and prayer to Gulungin in hopes that they'll be rewarded with a safe journey and avoid the ire of the Flushed One's spontaneous wrath.  

SACRED SITES

  Shipwrecks, while seen as a tragedy by some, others will actively seek out these sites; not to plunder, but to pay reverance to those that paid tribute with their lives to the Vizier of Waves. These efforts are meant to appease Gulungin in hopes that a second reminder of how quickly his mood can shift need not be exercised against them.   The sea bed is also spoken of in high regard as this sprawling location embodies the countless battles in which Marthasya suffered defeat by her watery sibling. Myriad continents and islands were swallowed by the Lord of the Drink during their prehistoric conflict and these drowned landmasses are his spoils. They remain dark and undisturbed by all but the most daring of mortal and demigod alike.  

RESOURCES

  The Drink is home to half of all life in Primea. It also offers a means to transport vast quantities of people and goods for surface dwellers. Some consider it wise to divulge secrets to the seas as they can swallow vast quantities and obfuscate it through its ever-churning tides. Efforts to recover these secrets are about as successful as having a drunkard recall the events of the night prior.
