Stirge Cavern

This enormous cavern is known as the home to the world's largest colony of stirges. The limestone walls are pocked with holes, which house a over a million stirges. The tiny beasts feast upon anything foolish enough to be seen and they emerge en masse at night, like a swarm of bats, to find prey. While each one of them is no bigger than a housecat, when they swarm in sufficient numbers they are capable of taking down nearly any creature, which is why the countryside for miles around is devoid of animal life. This cavern together with the Needle drop plains is the dividing point between Beregad and Fel Sadanis. During Naj and Rbefthe surrounding lands are the mostly save as the nesting dragons, a danger in itself, cause the Stirges to remain in their cavern, the breath attack of a dozen dragons have claimed enough of lives that even most aggressive of stirges remains within the caverns, rather cannibalizing and saving energy, then competing with dragons for prey.
