The Green
The Iris Inlet is beautiful, full of fish and other natural resources. Arator borders it, the land blessed by Aurum to grow, it's soil wild and fertile. On land, that soil can grow some fascinating creatures, deer made of vines and bark, bears of lichen and tangled undergrowth. Still, these creatures do no more harm than any other beast. Difficult to spot though they may be, they are, in the end, nothing more than part of the environment.
The Iris Inlet was thought to be safe from this growth. Though the Ilios Sea fed water into it, the Iris Inlet was to shallow for the large sea monsters that roamed the icy depths to make their way into the gulf. The climate itself was too temperate for the beasts to comfortable live in.
Then the disappearances began. Movement in the corners of fisherman's eyes, rustling in the reeds at the edge of the banks. Villages would notice that the size of the inlet itself seemed to change, growing and shrinking on a day to day basis, never the same.
And always, always, the green undertones of seaweed and moss, of plants that cling to rocks fill the bottom of the water. Always do those green plants move and sway with the current- and occaisonally against it.
Always the green. It waits for those to come.
