The Fiery Wrath of the Pukis

Origin

Thousands of years ago before the Lauma and Manlings found peace between one another, the two species had a common enemy: the invasive Pukis. A Pukis was said to be a massive bird-like creature with a tail ablaze with a mighty fire and glossy black feathers. Its massive red beak was lined with serrated teeth-like protrusions that were able to rip straight through leather, skin, and flesh alike. The Pukis was said to be the size of three bears and resembled a giant chicken.
"It's wingspan rivaled the width of rivers and its body was the size of a cabin!" "Truly?" "Aye! So sayeth the legends, m'lad!"

Most believe the species to be long extinct, as the only sightings of such a beast have been that of their massive skeletons found jutting from the soil. It was said that the creatures hadn't a preference for certain habitats as they were spotted in caves, massive trees, and even Diemaja. Long ago, their massive eggs were feasted upon as a delicacy.

Holiday

One of the few widely observed holidays amongst the Ealdèn manlings is Noglanpukis, the celebration of eradicating the fierce and hostile monster. The day consists of feasting upon poultry, drinking, and dancing. Some clans even put on a play by having multiple members of the clan dress up as the Pukis as the rest of the clan "slays it" with bows, spears, and axes alike. In the early days of Noglanpukis, it was tradition to fry one of the beast's massive eggs and share it between an entire clan. Now that the beast is extinct, they continue the tradition by using dozens of regular-sized bird eggs.
